
Ottawa Recon Weekend! June 6-8
January 22, 2025Meg had been running with the TTC and HEAL track group for a number of years and was dealing with some nagging running injuries. I’d ask her at track what else she was doing in training, and after a few discussions, she decided that a personalized coaching plan would help properly periodize her training and reduce the risk of injury. Meg has been a pleasure to coach—she always brings a positive attitude to her training sessions and great in-person energy at track! It was amazing to see her cross the finish line of her first half marathon in 2023.
I remember when I first saw Tara — it was my very first Olympic race at TTF and she was talking to a group of newbies. She immediately made an impression on me because she was obviously experienced but spoke right to my level. This is what sets Tara apart, she meets you exactly where you are at. A year or so later after I joined the TTC and was running track coached by Tara, I recognized her as the same person at that first race. Tara’s calm confidence very much inspired me then and continues to inspire me now! Tara pushes you to go further and faster but does not judge if you are not having a great day. She’s always encouraging and breaks things down. If you are working through injury, she knows how to continue to build the endurance while still doing what we love. The biggest benefit from HEAL that I have realized is achieving goals that I thought weren’t possible and meeting this great community of athletes
