August 16, 2011Video: Eating for Better Performance
August 24, 2011Do bugs love you as much as you love the outdoors? Higher levels of vitamin B1 (thiamine) may help repel insects such as mosquitoes or flees as they dislike the odor that is elinated through the skin. So increase your intake of B-Complex vitamins when heading out into nature. Supplement with 50-100mg 2-3 times daily while in bug territory. If you do get bitten, topical application of baking soda, comfrey root or goldenseal powder can help alleviate the discomfort. Increase levels of vitamin C, A and zinc may also be helpful for insect bites.
